Biker Events - what are they?

Biker events are opportunities for bikers to get together and chew the cud.

They are a great excuse for bikers from all over the U.K., often with bikers from further afield as well, to congregate, swap stories, look at each other's bikes, listen to some music and drink some beer. They are great social events and keenly anticpated.

A lot are organised on a regional basis, where bikers from across certain counties will get together, whilst others attract bikers from all over, and are huge, well organised events. And some events take place overseas, with huge gatherings throughout Europe and the U.S.

In each month throughout 2009, there will be anything from five to 15 events, all offering a chance to mingle to swap gossip in a atmosphere of camaraderie and shared interests.

In early January for example, there is the 11th Brass Monkey Run which is based at The Vic Bikers Pub in Coalville. And with a title like that, it's not hard to guess what a lot of the bikers might be trying to achieve whilst out on their bikes.

In a similar vein, in February, there's the 2nd Snoot's Frozen Bush Rally at The Snooty Fox pub near Scarborough. It may be impolite here to enquire too deeply into what's meant by Frozen Bush, but it sounds fun and maybe this is why such events take place in the colder months of the year.

Bigger events are very popular and encourage bikers to attend say over a weekend for maximum enjoyment.

One such event is the MCN Live at Skegness, Lincolnshire, which in 2009 takes place between 2pm Friday 24 April and finishes on Sunday 26 April at 12pm.

Based at the Butlins resort, it offers bikers a great time, with three nights accommodation, entertainment, planned activities, competitions, full use of the resort facilities, a trade area and a number of ride-outs across the region.

And for those looking further afield, there's the U.S Sturgis Motorcycle Rally which in 2009, takes place between 3rd and 9th of August. The town of Sturgis, South Dakota, plays host to over 500,000 bikers. The attraction is not only the amount of fellow bikers, but the opportunity to ride motorbikes through the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota - some of the best riding experiences there are.

So if you're a biker who likes to mix with other bikers, then plan you're year now, there is simply lots of choice.
